Winchester City Council is seeking views from anyone who lives or works in the Winchester District to help shape the community strategy.
The strategy provides a vision for the future and sets out how Winchester City Council will work with other organisations to improve the quality of life for the district's 110,000 residents over the next decade.
Building on the previous strategy, this latest version will focus on a smaller number of key issues which will be determined through the consultation process which has now begun.The strategy sets out how the City Council will work with other organisations to foster active communities, develop a prosperous economy and maintain a high quality environment.
Two clear priorities which have emerged so far are better support and services for older people, and more accessible services for residents across the district. A new team of three assistant directors has been established at the City Council from among the existing staff line-up; each one will be accountable for one of the strategy's three key 'outcome' areas (active communities, a prosperous economy and a high quality environment).
The Winchester District Strategic Partnership, made up of a number of groups and organisations that serve the community, will also be supporting the City Council in developing the strategy.
Cllr Kelsie Learney, Leader of Winchester City Council, said: "The Council is keen to get to grips with the series of important and complex issues that will affect the Winchester District over the next 10 years. These can only be resolved by working in partnership with other organisations and voluntary groups to improve the quality of life of communities."
