Denmead Bowling Club.
|
Denmead Bowling Club was founded in 1992 and is located in the King George V playing field off Ashling Park Road near to the children's playground. There are currently 160 adult members, both male and female, together with some juniors.
The outdoor season runs from mid April until late September. Indoor bowling, Short Mat, commences late September until early April.
During the winter a Bridge Club plays on Wednesday afternoons and a Craft section meeting on Thursday afternoons.
Outdoor competitive bowling is catered for through 5 men's teams, 2 ladies' teams and a mixed team competing in the Portsmouth & District Leagues. Indoor competitive bowling is catered for through 4 mixed teams. Social bowls is also very popular with three roll-up sessions each day and friendly fixtures played against other clubs.
For more information please contact the Club on telephone number 023 9226 3028, or alternatively visit the club between 10.00 am and dusk on any day.
Denmead & Purbrook Football Club
Denmead & Purbrook FC were formed in 2007 to provide a decent standard of adult football in the local area. We started with the intention to survive in the Hampshire 2004 League and not finish bottom. To the teams credit and the dedication of all the volunteers this has been surpassed with a third place finish in the league and a Cup Final to look forward to at the end of April 08.
It is the intention of the club to work closely with Denmead Youth and Purbrook Youth to provide a natural progression from Youth to Adult football, this will be helped by the newly formed under 18 Hampshire Youth side for the 2008-09 season.
All players of all age groups are welcome to attend training.
