Dear Resident
Closure of the Denmead Branch of Nat West
The Parish Council was dismayed to learn of the proposed closure of the Denmead branch of Nat West. This is a valued local facility used by many within the village, and also by those in adjoining villages.
By doing nothing, the branch would have quietly closed. And indeed, this may still be the outcome. The Parish Council will not let this happen without doing what it can to prevent the closure, or by getting the Bank to provide an alternative facility locally.
To date, the Parish Council has written to the Branch Manager to make their feelings known and to ask for the decision to be reversed. Many residents, both as individuals and from the Business Community have also done this. The Parish Council has welcomed the support of its local MP, George Hollingberry, who has engaged with the Bank at senior levels. Our Ward Councillor has been doing her bit to prevent the loss of this facility. Many of you have signed a petition in the News Agents and this has been forwarded to the Bank. The News featured an article on the closure.
The Parish Council will continue in its quest to see the Branch remain in Denmead. I will update you again on progress and developments in a few weeks.
Yours sincerely,
Cllr Neil Lander-Brinkley
Chairman, Denmead Parish Council
